Solomon Goss was born in Granville, Massachusetts 16 June, 1754. By 1769 he had migrated with his father Philip Goss IV and mother Mary (Kendall) Goss to the Wyoming Valley in Pennsylvania in the Wilkes-Barre area. At that time the area was known as Westmoreland Twp., Litchfield Co., Connecticut. Eventually it became Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania but that was a very convoluted chain of events between the two states that claimed the land. Solomon Goss married Olive Scott 25 June, 1776 probably in Plymouth Township, one of the many townships that were part of the Wyoming Valley. Solomon and Olive Goss moved from Plymouth Township to Huntington Township about 1776-8 along with his father and siblings. They were all involved with the hostilities surrounding the Wyoming Massacre that took place 3 July, 1778. Solomon was held as a prisoner in Forty Fort but escaped. Sometime around 1790-1795 Solomon sold off his land in Huntington Township and migrated to West Liberty, Pennsylvania before he joined the George Newcomb party in April 1796 that migrated to the area of the city of Dayton. Unfortunately Judge John Cleves Symnes failed to make good on his purchases of the land in the Dayton area and the settlers had to buy their land again. Solomon left the Dayton area and settled near Marietta by May of 1798 when his daughter Elizabeth married Andrew Lake. By 1808 he had purchased land in Fearing Township in Washington County, Ohio and remained there till his death in 1 July, 1825. His son, also named, Solomon Goss was the administrator of his estate and inherited the land. However, my 1832 Solomon Goss and his wife Polly left Fearing Township for Hardin Co., Ohio and later migrated to Iowa. In 1802 Solomon Goss had purchased land in Knox Co., Ohio and in 1815 he sold that land to his children. His daughter Lydia Goss and her husband John A. Spracklin migrated to Knox Co., Ohio about 1822 and settled on Lydia’s portion of the land.

Solomon Goss and his wife Olive Scott Goss had the following children:
