Samuel served in King Philip's War in Captain Hutchinson's Company. On February 22 1670 he signed the compact between the town of Swansea and the Baptist Church regarding admission of new inhabitants to the town. He was also on an early undated list of members of the Swansea Baptist Church.

Samuel and Elizabeth (Atwood) Wheaton's children are Samuel, Johnathon and Noah.

Samuel's children were referenced in his father's will, but they were not mentioned by name. Neither was Samuel named in the settlement of his father's estate.
