He was survived by his children, Leon Allen of Newark, Ohio, Lloyd Allen of Somerset, Kentucky, Betty Allen of Somerset, Kentucky, and Lorene Marshall of Atlanta, Georgia; his brothers, John Allen of Marshall, Indiana, David Allen of Greencastle, Indiana, and Thompson Allen of Greencastle, Indiana; his sisters, Lema Overpeck of Rockville, Indiana and Ruthella Wathers of Marshall, Indiana; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William T. Allen and Balzora (Griffin) Allen; and his wife, Amy C. (Mercer) Allen.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 24, 1978 at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with Reverend L.D. Fisher officiating.

When Charles Bryan Allen was born on August 11, 1898, in Pulaski, Kentucky, his father, William, was 28 and his mother, Balzora, was 21. He married Amy Celia Mercer on February 18, 1919, in Scott, Tennessee. They had five children during their marriage. He died on January 22, 1978, in Somerset, Kentucky, at the age of 79.
