Billy “Bill” Sunday Chapman age, 100, of Chaffee died January 13, 2017 at Heartland Care and Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 19, 1916 near Advance, Missouri to George E. and Mella C. Reed Chapman. He was proud of the fact that he was named after the evangelist Billy Sunday, who he went to hear when he spoke in Cape Girardeau in 1930’s.
He married Gladys “LaRue” Scism on April 6, 1938 in Bloomfield and she preceded him in death on August 8, 1999.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Mary (Gerald) Kinder and a son Billy Dale “Bill” Chapman, Sr., granddaughter, Amee Chapman, grandsons, Kenneth Joseph Heuring and Billy Dale Chapman, Jr.

He is survived by two daughters, Margaret A. (late Joe) Heuring of New Hamburg, Missouri; Sharon L. Bowen of Baldwin, Missouri; three sons, Kenneth E. (Alice) Chapman of Advance, Missouri; G. Norman (Sharon Kay) Chapman of Cape Girardeau; Larry H. (Shelly) Chapman of Hillsboro, Missouri.
Grandchildren, Sheila Heuring Beggs (Kevin) Dannenmueller; Dean P. (Leonna) Heuring; Gerald Wayne Kinder; Mark Allen Kinder; Laurie Ann Brown; Crystal (Torey) Gosche; Amanda Sells; Kenneth Wayne (Paula) Chapman; Keith (Diane) Chapman; Lisa Chapman; Anetra (Mark) Armbruster; Aaron (Alyssa) Chapman; Keagan Chapman; Tara (Bryan) Gohn; Leslie (Brian) Profancik; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and nine step great-great-grandchildren.

In the 1940’s he was farm hand for Martin Dunn, Oran, Missouri; W. A. Hyde, south of Gray Ridge, Missouri and Mr. Morlan near Leora, Missouri.
He moved his family to Blomeyer, Missouri in 1950 and went to work at the International Shoe Factory and retired from the Florsheim Shoe Factory in 1977.

He was an avid Cardinal baseball fan. He also liked to watch wrestling and boxing. Also known for walking and visiting Bob’s Barber Shop along with repairing lawn mowers for most anyone in need. Bill also was an avid hunter of raccoon, squirrel, and rabbit. He loved to fish at the “Big Ditch” and “North Ditch” at Blomeyer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chaffee.

Friends may call after 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Monday at the Chapel with Rev. Joshua Boley officiating. Burial will be at Morgan Memorial Park, Advance.

In Lieu of flowers memorial may be given to the American Cancer Society or Charity of your choice.
