Final rites were held Sunday afternoon in the Cedarville Community Church for Lester Sloan Dagsen, 39, and burial was in the Cedarville Cemetery.

Services were conducted by the Church of Latter Day Saints. Pallbearers were Russ Enderlin of Alturas, Gene Miller and Lawrence Cipfel of Redding, Tom Rea, Carol Hironymous, Gail Hicks, Paul Atchison, and Dr. Jack Gilbert all of Cedarville.

Lester Sloan Dagsen was born in Ogden, Utah, December 14, 1927.

He died September 28, 1967 in the Cedarville Hospital where he had been a patient for several days. His parents were Lester Hyrum Dagsen and Mary Briggs Dagsen.

He spent most of his childhood in Larae, Nevada until the family moved to Likely. He entered Modoc Union High School and graduated from there as Valedictorian of his class. He was also Valedictorian of his eighth grade class. Sloan received the Baush Lomb Science award. He entered the University of California at Berkeley where he began his career in Pharmacy.

One year later he received a scholarship to the University of California at Berkeley. One year later he received a scholarship to the University of Idaho in Pharmacy where he completed his education in 1951.

He was married to Patricia Joan Driscoll in 1950 and they moved to California where Les served his apprenticeship at Enderlin's Modoc Pharmacy in Alturas.

He later moved to Redding and worked at Eaton's Emporium for 7 years. After this he returned to Cedarville where he bought the Wylie Pharmacy and has lived where he bought the Wylie Pharmacy and has lived with his family here until his death.

Les had many interests. He was second Regional Chess Champion of Northern California in 1958. He loved music, and had great interest in science, astronomy, math, photography and Science Fiction and had done some writing toward that end.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, two daughters, Leslie Ann and Patricia Kathleen, and one son, James Lester; his mother, Mrs. Mary Dagsen of Alturas, two sisters, Mrs. Audrey Bettandorff of Tulelake and Mrs. Betty McCartor of Loyalton, and four nieces and three nephews and one great nephew, and a host of friends.
