John was the son of Georg Heinrich and Catharina Jäger Arbogast... He had seven known siblings, Salome, Maria Eva, Georg Heinrich, Johannes, Magdalena, Philipp and Philipp Jacob Arbogast..

He and Magdalena immigrated to the US from France with their children in 1840 on board the ship Nile... They landed in New York on 4 Jun 1840 and very shortly after settled in Jefferson Township, Tuscarawas, Ohio area... The family was enumerated in Tuscarawas County in 1840... They had eleven known children, four that died young in France...

John is most probably buried in the Stone Creek Cemetery... Many of the gravestones close by Magdalena's are missing (See the photos on Magdalena's Memorial)...

Unfortunately John's death was not recorded in the Tuscarawas death records which begun in July of 1867... As his probate case was opened on 27 Jan 1868 he most probably died in December of 1867... The church death records, as transcribed by Maxine Renner Eberle, of the Evangelical Lutheran and German Reformed Zion Church of Stone Creek have a two year "gap" in recorded deaths between June of 1866 until April of 1868...
