Mary Helen (Dunipace) Bucher, 94, of Whitehouse, Ohio, died January 10, 2017 at Elizabeth Scott Community in Maumee, Ohio. She was born April 5, 1922 in Grand Rapids, Ohio to Harold and Hilda (Zimmerman) Dunipace.
Mary graduated in 1939 from Liberty Center High School and from St. Vincent's School of Nursing in 1943. She served her country in the Army Nurse Corps, as a First Lieutenant, from 1944 to 1946.
Mary belonged to, and volunteered with, Hope United Methodist Church, Toledo Naturalists' Association, Toledo Zoo and many other organizations. She was a 4-H advisor for 43 years and was awarded the State of Ohio Meritorious Service Award for 4-H. Mary was also an avid birder and loved to travel.
She married Orville Bucher on March 6, 1948. He preceded her in death in 2013, after 65 years of marriage. Survivors include children, Kathleen (Joe) Dollman, Nancy (Steve Dehnart) Bucher, Patsy (Rich) Watkins, Margie (Baron) Black, and Edward (Cathe) Bucher, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jane Kreps.
Visitation will take place Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, Whitehouse, Ohio. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 AM at Hope United Methodist Church, Whitehouse, Ohio. Burial will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery.
