"Mr. Benjamin Kesner (deceased) was a native of Virginia. He came from Indiana to Piatt county about 1855, and settled in Goose Creek township. He next moved to Camp Creek, where he lived until about eleven years ago, when he moved to Missouri, where he died. He was married in Virginia to Margaret Coffman, and had nine children, six of whom are living, but only two are in Piatt county: Amy married Abraham Starkey, and lives in Monticello. She has three children: Rose, the wife of Ira Robinson and mother of one child: Jennie and Willie. Lucinda Kesner was married in 1870 to Wm. Plotner, and had one son, Allen. She was married again in 1881, to Reed Baird. Mr. Baird first married Sarah Gotchall, who died leaving seven children, six of whom are living, Charlie, Charlotte, Susan, David, Mary and Sarah."

About 1845 to 1846 the Kesners came to Vermillion Co., Indiana from Virginia (probably from Franklin Co.) perhaps by way of OH. From IN, they moved to Piatt Co., IL about 1855, and settled in Goose Creek Township. They next moved to Camp Creek, where they lived until about eleven years ago (1872), when they moved to Cedar Co., Missouri, where he died.... (My Note: It is interesting to note that the Civil war began in 1860, the time frame when this family lived in Ilinois and are seemingly unfound in the 1860 census.)... He was married in Virginia to Margaret Coffman, and had nine children, six of whom are living, but only two are in Piatt county: Amy married Abraham Starkey, and lives in Monticello.
