Lt. Col. Ret. Michael Stuart Bunting, age 63, of Murrayville, passed away at his residence on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, following an extended illness.

Born on Dec. 15, 1951, in San Francisco, Calif., to parents William James and Mary Stuart Bunting, Michael spent his career serving his country in the United States Army Reserve having retired in 2011. He then continued his service in the Georgia State Defense Force and was also a member of the Military Order of Foreign Wars and Sons of the American Revolution.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Lutz Bunting; daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Kyle Comen, Charleston, S.C., and Heather and Mehrvarz Yavaliollah of Atlanta; sisters, Wyla Jean Woolf (Paul), Sparks, Nev., and Patricia Sims (Dallas), Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, James William (Kathleen) Bunting, Breckinridge, Colo.; grandchildren, Harrison Comen, and Aiden and Freya Yavaliollah; nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Albert Daviou will officiate. No visitation is planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Prostate Cancer Foundation.
