On 11 July 1785 in Laurens County, South Carolina, he married Mary Lindley (1764-1850).
Ten children:
(1.) Hannah Harriett Abercrombie (1786-1840) married John Nesbitt NASH (1786-1864) and moved in the mid 1830's to Henry County, Georgia, in north Bear Creek, that became Hampton, in 1873;
(2.) Mary Lucinda "Mollie" Abercrombie (1789-1856) married Hiram Newton SIMS (1785-1847) and moved in the early 1830's to Henry County, Georgia, but then settled in Chambers County, Alabama in 1839. Also ancestors of actor Matthew Morrison;
(3.) Rebecca Ann Abercrombie (1791-1876) married Kellett BABB (1791-1879) and moved to Henry County, Georgia in the early 1830's (The area became known as the community of Babb, named after them, in the City of Bear Creek, that later became the City of Hampton in 1873. It is located on what is now McDonough/Jonesboro Road, at Babb's Mill Road).
(4.) Colville Abercrombie, Jr. (1793-1838) married Sara Mahaffey (1799-1863) and moved in the late 1820's to Henry County, Georgia, in north Bear Creek, that became Hampton in 1873;
(5.) Elizabeth Catherine Abercrombie (1795-1867) married Holloway "Holley"CAMPBELL (1795-1872) and moved to Henry County, Georgia in the early 1830's to Bear Creek, that became Hampton in 1873;
(6.) James Pickard Abercrombie (1798-1880) married first Nancy Camp (1798-1840) and second Sarah Thomason (1805-1891) moved through Henry County, Georgia in the early 1830's, but settled in Campbell County, Georgia, in the area that would become the Community of Cedar Grove (later became south Fulton County after 1931);
(7.) Rachel Christina "Christie" Abercrombie (1801-1859) married William Howard RIDGEWAY (1798-1867) and moved in the mid 1830's, to Monroe, Walton County, Georgia;
(8.) Ruth Jennett "Ruthie" Abercrombie (1803-1892) married Alfred Franklin SIMS (1795-1886) and moved to Newton County, Georgia, but in 1870 the northern half including Conyers, became Rockdale County;
(9.) Jonathan Abercrombie (1807-1886) married Jane "Jennie" Armstrong (1812-1889) and stayed in Laurens County; and
(10.) Lindley Abercrombie, Sr., (1809-1868) married first Rachel Mahaffey (1810-1850) and second Winifred "Winnie" Graden (1822-1886).

There is no exact proof that he is buried at Rabun Creek, but he was a member of this church and this memorial page is dedicated in his honor.
