He was married as the 2nd husband of Sandra Irene ( -- ) Taylor, and he was retired from the US Navy in 1975 after having served in the Vietnam War.
A resident of Donelson, Davidson County, Tennessee, Jim died January 9, 2017 at the age of 78.
Survivors included his widow, a married son, two married daughters, two married Taylor stepsons, two married stepdaughters, eight grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Services were held at Mount Olivet Funeral Home, and burial was in the cemetery there.
