Hubert "Hub" H. Braun, 92, of Racine, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at Ascension All Saints Hospital. Hubert was born in Racine, Feb. 21, 1924, son of the late Victor and Catherine (Nee: Mueller) Braun. A proud graduate of St. Catherine's High School "Class of 1940", Hub was later inducted into St. Catherine's Alumni Hall of Fame. Furthering his education, he received a Bachelor and Master's degree in Science from Marquette University. On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 1952, at St. Edward's Catholic Church, Hubert was united in marriage to Jean Frances Murphy. They shared 54 beautiful years together before Jean preceded him in death, Aug. 21, 2006. Hub and his wife worked together for 53 years in the agricultural business and he was employed as Campus Administrator for Kenosha Gateway Technical College for 43 years. Actively involved in community organizations, he served on the Racine County Board for forty years and served as past president of Local Chapter 202 of Catholic Financial. He was a longtime active member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church where he served on the Building Committee. He and his wife enjoyed their extensive travels in North America, Europe and Asia. As members of Friendship Force and the Lions Club they welcomed many world travelers into their home. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his son, James; brother, John Braun; sisters, Frances Doherty, and Marie Dederich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., on Monday, January 16, 2017, 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Terrence Huebner officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Kinzie Ave. Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home.
