Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial in Eids Cemetery will be at a later date.
Harold Paul Bergseth was born in Big Stone County, MN to Lars and Elizabeth (Johnson) Bergseth on May 9, 1926. He was a life-long resident of the Ortonville area.
Harold entered the United States Army on March of 1946 serving in Manila and Okinawa. He was honorably discharged in September of 1947. He returned to Ortonville and helped with the family farm and then began working for Menzel Lumber of Odessa as a carpenter. Harold built and repaired many homes in the community as well as building his own home in the early 1960's where he resided until his passing.
Harold married Nora Ackerman on May 10, 1974, at Grace Lutheran Church of Correll, MN. Together they enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening along with establishing an orchard of apple, pear, and plum trees. Harold also enjoyed woodworking, building bird houses, martin houses, toy chests, trunks, and furniture. In the summer he enjoyed feeding humming birds and during the fall and winter he fed deer in his front yard.
Harold is survived by two sisters: Delores and Hazel Bergseth of Ortonville, MN; sister-in-law, Arvella Bergseth of Ortonville, MN; step-daughters: Judy (Jerry) Finnerty of Shorewood, MN and Shirley Wold of Mankato, MN; four grandchildren: Sarah (Jed) Heuer of Mankato, MN; Jenny (Alex) Goff of Mankato, MN; Ann Finnerty of Minneapolis, MN; and Tony Finnerty of Minneapolis, MN; seven great-grandchildren: Blake, Jack, Max, Lindy, Emma, Jovan, and John; as well as nieces and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nora; brothers: Art, Lester, Chester, Lawrence, Marvin, Edward, and Homer; sisters: Alice, Luella, Lorraine, and Muriel; and son-in-law, Robert (Bob) Wold.
Harold's family would like to thank the staff of Holy Trinity Hospital for their care and comfort given to Harold during his stay.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to First English Lutheran Church of Ortonville.
