Donald Ernest Harper, 88, of Roanoke, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 8, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverley Trent Harper; parents, Samuel and Bessie K. Harper; twin brother, David (Barbara); brother, Carlos (Eva) ; and an infant brother, Joseph.

Donald is survived by two sons, three grandsons, three great-grandsons, great-granddaughter, step-grandchildren, step great-grandchild, sister-in-law, former daughter-in-law and other nieces and nephews.

Donald was a graduate of Jefferson High School and a long time member of North Roanoke Baptist Church. Donald served in the Army 43rd Division Finance Company during the Korean War.

Memorials may be made to the building fund of North Roanoke Baptist Church, 6402 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA. 24019, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or your favorite charity.

Services will be held at North Roanoke Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017. Interment will follow Sherwood Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the National Guard Honor Guard and Disabled American Veterans Roanoke Valley Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Oakey's North Chapel.
