Vic is the son of Fred and Margaret Claussen. He graduated from Atlantic High School (Iowa) in 1943. He operated a gas station, drove a grain truck, and was an inspector for Cass Co and the state of Iowa. On June 21, 1944, he married Betty Lou Hayter. They had 4 children.
