Mildred Witty, 80, died Monday, Sept. 25, 1995, at her home in Elgin.

Services for Mrs. Witty will be held Friday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Elgin Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniel Chapel of the Valley in La Grande.

Mrs. Witty was born Aug. 12, 1915, the daughter of James and Olive (Manning) Payne in Trenton, Utah. She came to Union County with her family as a teenager.

On June 8, 1935, she married Laurel Witty in La Grande. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1985.

She was a member of the Elgin Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and of the Pythian Sisters. Her family was her highest priority in life.

Survivors include her son, Ken Witty of Enterprise; daughter, Linda Hiatt of Pascok, Wash.; grandchildren, Jerry Hiatt, Mike Hiatt, Judy Hiatt, Mike Hiatt, Judy Hiatt, Cynthia Risan and Tina Grieve; four great-grandchidlren; sister Leora A. Hollingsworth of Elgin; and other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother and one half-sister.
