He served in the United States Navy for 25 years. He was a devout Catholic, a parishioner at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was lifetime member and volunteer of the State Park system, an honorary member of The Federation of Garden Clubs of Norfolk, and a member of the Bayview Seniors.
Frank was predeceased by his late wife Mary O'Connor-Acela and his second wife Doris Verones-Acela. Left to remember him are his blended family of ten children and their spouses. John (Lita), Barbara, Tracy, Jan (Jesse), Virginia (Stanley), David (Diane), Danny (Maria), Candace, Carmen (Rosie), Ramona (Al); local grandchildren include Shannon, Sherry, Jonathon, Jessica, Elijah, Mary, Trey, Cassie, Kristen, Caitlin; and great-grandchildren Tyler, Zoe, Haiden, Mason, Mathew, Adelyn, Connor, Colton, and Raegan.
Frank also leaves many family and friends to cherish his memories, and who loved his easy going spirit, sense of humor and silly jokes. He will be dearly missed. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Dr. Chapel, Norfolk on Thursday, June 2, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016, at Princess Anne Memorial Park/
