He married Anna Riechman September 02, 1896 in Evansville, Indiana.
He was the very popular Democrat Mayor of Evansville, Indiana, 1914-22. He died from lobar Pneumonia while in office at age 47 years.
Civic improvement completed during Bosse's years as mayor:
*Horse drawn fire carriages were replaced.
*Evansville Police Department moved from city offices to their own station.
*Most downtown streets were paved brick.
*Improved public markets were built in several locations.
*The Public Recreation Department was formed.
*Built Evansville's first public playgrounds, tennis courts and swimming pools.
*The Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Coliseum was completed in March 1917
*Benjamin Bosse High School named in his honor, is listed on the National Register as part of the Lincolnshire Historic District. Built in 1922.
*Bosse Field, also named for Mayor Benjamin Bosse, is the third oldest professional ballpark. Opening Day 06/17/1915 behind Fenway Park in Boston and Wrigley Field in Chicago.
He worked in a grocery store for his brother William. Took over grocery business.
In 1899 became a partner in Globe Furniture Company. Combined the Globe, Bosse and World furniture into the Globe-Bosse-World furniture company.
Benjamin Bosse was a member of the Missouri Synod Board of Directors and a leader in the Lutheran Laymen's League.
At the 1917 Missouri Synod convention he made the official announcement of the organization of the LLL, the purpose of which was to collect from wealthy laymen enough money to pay a deficit of $100,000 in the treasuries of the Missouri Synod.
