He was a WWII veteran with service in the 82nd Airborne Division in Normandy, Holland, The Battle of the Bulge, and Germany. He was a life member of 505 R.C.T. Airborne.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Akins; his son, Freddy Akins; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Akins; his brother, Harold Akins; his sister, Marveleen Davis; and his parents.
