George Houser
KINGS MOUNTAIN Mr. George Henry Houser, 87, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

Born in Cleveland County, he was the third child of the late Horace Mayo and Sarah Evangeline Falls Houser.

He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, where he was a former choir and church council member. He served as past president of Kings Mountain Lions Club and Kings Mountain Country Club.

He was very active in his community and in 1973 led a successful campaign for a new addition to Kings Mountain Hospital. He spent most of his life with Sadie Mills Inc., where he served as secretary and past president.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, George Andrew Hudson; brothers, William "Bill" Houser and Douglas Houser; and sisters, Frances Houser Lutz and Linda Houser Blanton.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Laura Mauney Houser; two daughters and their husbands, Shirley Houser Bimrose and Fred of Kings Mountain and Beth Houser McIntyre and Lee of Gastonia; a sister, Lois Evangeline Houser of Clemson, S.C.; grandchildren, Laura Hudson Johnson and her husband, Sam, of Jamestown, Betsy McIntyre Hurst and her husband, Brad, of Gastonia and Lee Trey McIntyre III of Charlotte; great-grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Hayes and Sarah Katherine Hayes of Jamestown and Lauralee Elizabeth Hurst of Gastonia.

Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
