Mavis MarDell Norgaard, 90 of Arlington, SD died Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Brookings Hospital in Brookings, SD.

Mavis MarDell Gumsrud was born April 4, 1926 to Andrew and MaeLena (Larson) Gumsrud at St. Lawrence, SD.

She moved with her family to the Lake Preston area and attended the Hetland Grade School later attending high school in Washington. She married Hartvig Norgaard on April 3, 1943. To this union 8 children were born.

Mavis worked at the nursing home, Interlake and Parkview Apartments. She loved to sew, bake and play cards.

She is survived by her children and many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She will be missed by many.

Funeral services for Mrs. Norgaard will be 2:00 pm on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington with Pastor Durk Thompson officiating, burial will be in the Arlington City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Home in Arlington and preceding services in the church on Friday.
