Abner and his brother, Capt. George Allan Sublett, published the first newspaper in Murfreesboro, TN. the "Courier" in 1814.Before that in 1812 he went with a printing press to Huntsville, AL. and claimed to be the first printer in that city. The office in Murfreesboro was on the corner of Vine and South Maple Street, then called South Lebanon. In 1828, they founded the short lived "National Vidette" to help elect Andrew Jackson for president. Abner was one of the first Charter members of the Murfreesboro Masonic Lodge, 1817. He is mentioned in Carlton Sims' "A History of Rutherford County" (1947) and Susan Daniel's "Rutherford County Tennessee Pioneers born before 1800" (2003) and Susan Daniel's "Cemeteries and Graveyards of Rutherford County, Tennessee" (2005). Lastly, he was married to Louisa Lewis Pryor and the couple had several children. On the 1850 Census there is listed: Valentine A., Jonathan C., Sarah J., Susan A.,Horace A., and John L.
