Lora Akers, 88, of Pineville, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Pineville Community Hospital. She was born in Pineville, KY on February 6, 1928 a daughter of the late Joseph Arthur and Pearlie Dean Akers. She had worked at Newberry's Department Store as a clerk.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Harris and brothers, Joe Akers and Charles Akers.
Survivors include her sister, Norma Akers, brother, Lester Akers, sister-in-law, Norma Sue Akers; nephew, nieces and their spouses, Joseph A. and Susan Harris, Debbie and Kevin MacDonald, Suzy and Charles Koltenhaler and Kelly Akers; great-nieces and nephews, Stephanie and AdamWarren, Joseph, II and Ashley Harris, Andrew Harris, Steven MacDonald, Kryssy Kaltenhaler, Chaz Kaltenhaler, C. J. Owens and Lexie Owens; great-great-nieces and nephews, Alexis Wise, Jaxson Warren, Ava Harris and Maddox Harris and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be on Saturday, January 7,2017 at 7:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Bishop Allen Lord and Bishop Custer Watts. Music will be by Allen Lord, Custer Watts and Jerry Rutherford. Burial will be Sunday at 11:00 AM in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery, Pineville. Pallbearers will be Joseph Harris, II, Andrew Harris, Tom Akers, Adam Warren, George Hubbard and Steven MacDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be C.J. Owens and Chaz Kaltenhaler.
