J. Mervin Ard, 85, Elsmore, Kansas, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 23, 1921, in Elsmore, Kansas, the son of James G. and Pearl (Shelton) Ard.

He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1939.

He was a member of the Ruritan Club, and the Elsmore United Methodist Church.

He married Beverley Johnson, at Iola, Kansas, on June 6, 1943. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Richard Ard and wife, Shirley, and Robert Ard, all of Elsmore, KS; four daughters, Betty Jo Baker and husband, Roger, and Linda Larson, of Minneapolis, MN, Ruth Endicott and husband, Oscar, of Fort Scott, KS, and Brenda Mills and husband, David, of Elsmore, KS; a brother, Melvin Ard, of Chanute, KS; a sister, Joyce Mapp, of Elsmore, KS; 23 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be June 30, 2006 in Elsmore Cemetery, Elsmore, Kansas.
