Joseph is the son of John and Elizabeth Sibberel Walker. He served in the Civil War in Co: C of the 180th Ohio Infantry.
He enlisted as a Private on September 17, 1864 at Tiffin, Ohio and served under Captain Moses Abbott. He mustered out of service July 12, 1865 in Charlotte, NC.

He was listed as being 5'-10" tall, fair complexion, light hair, gray eyes, and being a farmer.

He married Sylvia Ann Harris on September 04, 1856 and they had the following children: James B., Eldora, William, John, Anna, and Joseph Albertis (Bert) Walker.
