Alan Marshall Bunner, 84, died Monday, December 19, 2016. Mr. Bunner was born April 18, 1932 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was the youngest of three sons of Forest and Orilla Bunner.

He graduated from South Side High School, Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1950. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and advanced degrees from Purdue University and Wesleyan University.

Mr. Bunner served for three years in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1956, with the rank of Sergeant.

Mr. Bunner moved to Culver in 1957, where he was a mathematics instructor at the Culver Military Academy for 35 years. He served as Chairman of the Mathematics Department for eight years. Following his retirement from Culver Military Academy in 1992, he was an Adjunct Instructor of Mathematics at Ancilla College for fourteen years.

Mr. Bunner was elected to the Town Board of Culver in 1979, and he served one term as Town Trustee.

Mr. Bunner never married. He is survived by his brother James of Erie, Pennsylvania, and a number of nieces and nephews. His oldest brother Robert passed away in Elkhart, Indiana in 2014.

A memorial service is tentatively planned for spring or summer in Culver.
