William Herbert Truitt was born on Dec. 17, 1907, the son of George M., and Amanda Fitzgerald Truitt, at Clarinda, la., but had made Muscatine his home for 35 years. He married Aleta Shoultz on Jan. 8, 1938, and following her death, he married Mary M. Bailey on July 1, 1940, in Muscatine.
He was a member of the Jehovah Witness faith and had been a section hand with the Rock Island railway.
Surviving are his wife, Mary B. Truitt, at home; one son, David Joel; two daughters, Patricia Ann and Joyce Ellen Truitt,- at home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one son and one daughter.
