Chester O Coonfare, 66, 64429 Dogwood Road, Wakarusa, died Monday, Sept 24, in South Bend Osteopathic Hospital following an illness of two days. He had been in failing health for six years. He was born Feb 7, 1907, in Ober, Ind, to Francis and Hattie (Bickel) Coonfare and married Viola Payne in 1944. She died in 1959. He then married Blanche Kessler on May 27, 1961. Coonfare was last employed by Mutchlers of Nappanee. Surviving with the widow are three brothers, Clifford, Knox, and Robert and John, both of Fort Wayne; six sisters, Mrs. Harry (Vera) Lindeman, Lake Village, Mrs Henry (Lavina) Byers, Knox, Mrs John (Beatrice) Baswell, Lowell, Mrs Evelyn Williams, Bourbon, Mrs Rosie Hightower of Washington and Mrs Flossie Hemminger, Plymouth. Funeral services will be held this afternoon, Wednesday, at 3 pm at the Lienhart Funeral Home with the Rev Simon Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in South Union cemetery.
