Murdo Street was born in Glendon, Moore County, North Carolina about 1817, the son of Col. Richard Street, II (1779-1826) and Ann McQueen (1791-1857). He was a physician and served as a surgeon for the 26th.
On the 1850 Moore County Census Dr. Murdo Street was single and living with his mother Ann and brother Richard Street in the Carthage Township. Richard Street (1822-1899) also served in Company H, 26th Regiment.
On the 28th Dec. 1853, Murdo Street married Mrs. Isabella C. McLean Kelly (~1817-1860), the widow of John Bethune Kelly of Carthage, NC, at the Carthage Presbyterian Church. It appears that Isabella and Murdo had no children. She died in 1860.

DIED -- On the 13th inst., of cancer of the breast, Mrs. Isabella C. STREET, consort of Dr. Murdo STREET, in the 46th year of her age. She was returning from a trip to the South-west, whither she had gone with the hope of having the progress of her dreadful disease arrested; but alas! she was not permitted to reach home. She expired on the way, within a few miles of Carthage, where her aged mother and her only brother, Maj. H. C. MCLEAN were painfully anxious to welcome her home once more. The deceased was a lady of exemplary piety, had been for twenty years a member of the Episcopal Church and died in the full hope of a blissful immortality. A dutiful wife, a devoted child, an affectionate sister, a kind neighbor and a friend to the poor, she leaves a numerous circle of friends to lament her death, and her relatives stricken of heart and deeply sorrowing, though soothed by the consoling assurance that with her, death is but a momentary gloom, preceding the dawn of the eternal day.
About 1863 Murdo moved to Chatham County, NC and married Mary Jane Fox (1831-1886). [Marriage date was December 24, 1862] She was the daughter of Josiah Allen Fox (1799-1857) and Margaret Dowd (1803-1879). Mary Jane Fox had previously been married twice and brought two children into the marriage: John T Womble (b. 1854), and Margaret Siler (b. 1860). Murdo and Mary Jane had the following children in Chatham County:
Donald Murdo Street (1864-1906)
Annie L Street (1867-1917)
Mary J “Mollie” Street (1869-1902)
Maria Street (1871-1908)
It might be interesting to note the relationship of Murdo and Richard Street to other members of Company H, 26th Regiment. They were first cousins to Capt. William P. Martin. Capt. Martin’s mother, Flora McQueen (1785-1854), and Murdo and Richard Street’s mother, Ann McQueen (1791-1857) were sisters. Murdo and Richard Street were first cousins once-removed to Harmon Wilcox and Robert Palmer Wilcox. Harmon Wilcox and Robert Palmer Wilcox were nephews of Capt. William P. Martin. Harmon and Robert Palmer Wilcox’s mother Margaret Martin was a sister to Capt. William P. Martin.
