Born in Spencer on August 31, 1931, Doris was the daughter of the late Wallace and Statia (Urban) Perron, and graduated from David Prouty High School. Doris also earned a teaching certificate from Fitchburg State College. She married Anthony L. 'Tony' DeProspo in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Spencer on May 10, 1958, and was a resident of Shrewsbury for over 50 years before moving to Sutton in 2013.
Doris worked for many years at Worcester Polytechnic Institute as an administrative assistant in various departments, working well into her 70's. Doris was also an accomplished seamstress and her hand-made quilts and hooked rugs were legendary. For years, Doris taught quilting, sewing and rug hooking in adult education programs in Worcester, Northbridge and Marlborough. She served as the first president of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists.
Above all, Doris adored her family. She was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. In addition to Tony, her husband of 56 years, Doris leaves her three children, Susan M. Pratt and her husband, Steven, of Sutton, Sandra J. Hebert and her husband, Steven, of Lexington, South Carolina and Anthony L. 'Chip' DeProspo Jr. and his wife, Angela, of Wellesley Hills; five grandchildren, Christian and Nicholas Pratt, Amanda Caldwell, Caitlin Burner and Mia DeProspo; three great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Lucy, and Charlotte and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Jane, and a brother, Donald.
