George Emile Marquis, 93, passed away October 30, 2007, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born November 11, 1913, in St Agatha, the son of Eloi and Gracieuse Tardif Marquis.

He was the sixth child in a family of 14. George was a farmer until 1957, then worked for the town of Madawaska until his retirement in 1977. He was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus in Madawaska. George enjoyed his retirement by traveling for many years to Florida with his wife, Lillian. George loved life, loved to laugh, and was a devoted husband to Lillian. He enjoyed playing cards and going for rides in the afternoon with his wife.

George is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lillian Carrier Marquis of Madawaska; one brother, Eugene Marquis of Old Orchard Beach; one sister, Bernadette Marquis of Boston; a special niece, Linda Bechard and her husband, Philip, of St. David; and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by Lillian and his niece, Linda.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska. Friends and family may call 6-8 pm Thursday at Daigle Funeral Home and 9 am Friday until time of service. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
