Marilyn Rae Myers Edwards, formerly of Mountain Brook, died December 28, 2016 in Selma, AL at the age of 99. She was born on April 19, 1917 in Jackson Michigan to Raymond Foster Myers and Berneice Vestaline Robbins. She attended Michigan State University. During World War II, she served as a Coast Guard recruiting officer in Denver,CO where she met her future husband, Thomas H. Edwards, Jr. of Montgomery. After the war, they returned to Montgomery and eventually settled in Birmingham where she worked for a number of years for the Mountain Brook Board of Education. She was an avid and accomplished bridge player and enjoyed golf and traveling.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Thomas Henry Edwards, Jr. and a daughter and son-in- law Mary Lynn Edwards Angell and David Lawrence Angell. She is survived by her son Dr. Thomas Henry Edwards, III (Rennie Falkenberry) of St. George Island. FL; a grandson Christopher Alan Edwards (The Rev. Whitney Zimmerman), of Richmond, VA; a granddaughter Leslie Cameron Edwards Higgins (Alton Jarrod Higgins) of Portland, OR; and 3 great-grandchildren Emmeline Frances Coe Edwards, Georgia Leigh Olson Edwards, and Alton Graham Higgins.

A private graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, AL, Lawrence-Brown Funeral Home of Selma directing.

The family requests that memorial gifts go to the charitable organization of your choice.
