His estate was significant, including a mansion house in New Bedford, "The Merrill's Warf Interest," land and livestock in Nashaweena, Dukes County, Mass. and land in Florence, Los Angeles County, California. Merrill's Warf is now part of New Bedford's waterfront historical district. It includes the stone counting house (also known as the Durant Sail Loft) built by Edward Merrill.
