JOHN C. GREGORY, BOTHELL PAPER OWNER, IS DEAD

John C. Gregory, 71 years old, since 1909 owner of The Bothell Sentinel, died last evening at his home, 5103 Latona Ave., after a five months’ illness.
Born in Pippin, Wis., Mr. Gregory entered the newspaper business in the Black Hills of South Dakota, covering the mining camps as a reporter on horseback. in 1899 with his family he moved to Auburn, Wash., purchasing The Auburn Argus in 1902. He entered the real estate business in Seattle in 1906 in the firm of Russell, Gregory and Green. With the purchase of the Bothell Sentinel in 1909 he returned to the newspaper field.

Prominent in Lodge Circles

He was a member of Ashler Lodge, F. and A.M., Bothell; the Royal Arch; Seattle Commandery, Knights Templar; Nile Temple, Shrine; Rose Chapter, O. E. S.; Lodge No. 7, Odd Fellows; Cloverleaf, Rebekah Lodge; a member of the advisory board, Order of Rainbow for Girls, Seattle No. 5, and a member of the Methodist Church. He was state historian for the Sons of the American Revolution.
The funeral services will be held Monday in Bothell.

Widow, Four Sons Survive

Mr. Gregory is survived by his widow, Mrs. May E. Gregory; four sons, John C., Jr., a linotype operator in The Times composing room, E.V., and Albro B. of Seattle, and Ed F. of Bothell, who since January has carried the business of The Sentinel; three daughters, Mary, Joy M. and Margaret Charlotte, all of Seattle; two brothers, Edwin O. of Rochester, Minn., and George H. of Randall, Minn., and two sisters, Mrs. Ambrosia McCain of Rapid City, S. D., and Mrs. Maude Robinson of Republic, Mo. There are five grandchildren.
