Vera Margaret King, 93, Lapel, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, at St. Vincent's Anderson Regional.
She was born Aug. 16, 1923, in Crossville, Illinois, to the late Arthur and Alice M. (Bond) Yates.
Margaret graduated from Crossville High School in 1942. She then worked for an aircraft factory during WWII and was a real Rosie the Riveter. After marrying John F. King in 1945, they moved to the Anderson area. She retired in 1980 after working for 33 years at Guide. Margaret was a member of Mt. Carmel Primitive Baptist Church in Fortville.
She is survived by her son, Brian King; grandchildren, Andi Fogt, Ashley (husband, Mike) Fredericks and Paige and Abbie King; great-granddaughter, Molly Fredericks; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Nancy Fogt; and sisters, Marie (husband, Reginold) Hunter-Kelley and Marjorie (husband, Harold) Winter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service and Crematory, with Elder Bill Blackburn officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
