James “Ellis” Middleton, 61, of Ludowici, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016. The Long County native was a member of Edmund Chapel Church of God in Lyons. He was a construction worker and enjoyed singing Gospel music, hunting, fishing, and being “Papa” to his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Mamie Poole Middleton.
Survivors are his daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer (David) Stapleton, Nikki (Jeffery) Edmondson, Brittany (Darrell) Maulden, all of Ludowici; son, Josh Middleton of Ludowici (fiancé, Mary Chandler Keith); sister, Susan Dietzen of Texas; brothers, Billy Middleton, Joe Middleton, and Emmett Middleton, all of Ludowici; 9 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wayne Owen officiating. Interment will be in Middleton Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jay Middleton, Shane Middleton, Larry Middleton, Brandon Gordon, Justin Gordon, and Buddy Carter.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2016, at the funeral home.
