Born on August 30, 1921, in Wethersfield, CT, Debbie was the first child of Robert and Dorothy Snow of New Bedford, and Little Compton. In 1932, the family began to live year-round on their farm in Little Compton, where Debbie spent much of her youth. She attended the Lincoln School in Providence, and at age 21 she married the late Clarke Simonds of Providence and Little Compton. Together they raised four children and supported many local nonprofit institutions including the United Way. After their divorce in 1966, she became a year-round resident of Little Compton once again.
Debbie was an avid, self-taught gardener and a devotee of coastal garden and landscape design. Her garden, originally designed by Lloyd Lawton, was featured in magazines and on tours given by organizations like the Little Compton Garden Club, of which she was a member. A lifelong member of the Sakonnet Golf Club and of Warren's Point Beach Club, she enjoyed playing tennis and golf, and biked daily to the ocean even in winter until age 90.
She is pre-deceased by her brother, Willard Snow of Little Compton and a son, Philip Baldwin Simonds III of Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to her sister, Suzanne Snow Davis of East Providence, she leaves her three children, seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She will be interred next to her parents.
