James "Jim" William Arbogast, Jr., 74, of Tullos, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at his home on December 23, 2016.

Jim was born in Centerville, Iowa to parents James William, Sr. and Mable Irene Arbogast. Jim spent most of his life in Tullos, La. after moving with his parents at the age of 12. He was known to many as Big Jim. Some may say it was because he was a mountain of a man at 6'6", but if you ever met him you would know it was because of his larger than life personality and huge heart. Jim never let aday go by without smiling and making sure he made others smile too. Jim, known to his family as Poppy, was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to all who was instantly loved by everyone who ever met him.

Jim spent 30 years off-shore in the service of Placid Oil Company, the last 16 years as a Deputy Sheriff with the LaSalle parish Sheriff's office and spent many a day working for his father-in-law and himself in and around Tullos oil patch on his days off and free time. Jim served in the U.S.Army before being honorably discharged due to early death of his father. Jim was a faithful member of the Charles F. Buck Masonic Lodge, a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rites Temple of Monroe and Shriner with the Barak Temple in Monroe. He spent 20 years on the Tullos Town Council, a member of the Kiwanis Club, and a life-long member of the Tullos First Baptist Church.

Poppy enjoyed spending time with his family, watching westerns, putting the beat down on members of his fantasy football league (especially his sons) and just loving life.
