Lilias Christine Ann Gagnon

Sioux Falls, SD, Lilias Christine "Chris" Ann Bedman Gagnon, age 85, died on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Touchmark at All Saints Memory Care in Sioux Falls.

Lilias Christine Ann and her fraternal twin Lyle Clevery Erick were born on 1/10/1928 to Harry and Hilda Bedman at the family homestead on Lake Ida, located close to Alexandria, MN. (Lyle died 18 days after birth)

Chris had a wonderful and somewhat unique childhood. Growing up on a lakeside resort meant she could enjoy swimming, fishing, boating and hiking during the summers and outdoor winter sports during the colder months. During her later years Chris continued to enjoy swimming, camping, fishing and other outdoor activities.

After graduating from high school Chris moved to the Minneapolis area and took a secretarial course while working in a department store for a couple of years. In 1947 she married her high school sweetheart, Virgil Gagnon. The couple had two children - in 1948 a girl named Renee Christine and in 1949 a boy named Wayne Joseph. After that, new arrivals in the family were dogs, cats, fish, birds, and even a squirrel and raccoon. In 1959, the family moved to Sioux Falls, SD where Chris worked for State Farm Insurance as a claims secretary. The couple divorced in 1962, and although she never remarried, Don Cameron was her special companion until his death in 1995. Chris retired after thirty years with State Farm and reconnected with a gentleman she had known in high school. She and Russell Bjorstrom both enjoyed travel and spent several years together cruising to many exotic locations.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (James and Lyle) and infant great-grandchild Ethan James.

Private family services were held on Saturday, December 14, 2013.
