She was a lovely mother of 14 children and a wonderful grandmother. Sallie was born in Wohalok, Miss., on Jan 20, 1914.
Mrs. Phelps was preceded in death by her husband, L.M. Phelps. Survivors include her sons, Julius Phelps and Charles Phelps, both of Columbus, Miss., Wallace Phelps of Millport, Ala., and Walter Phelps of Navarre; daughters, Ann Bowman of Minnesota, Minnie Sides of West Point, Miss., Nell Daniels of Sweet Water, Tenn., Alice Ryans of Red Bay, Ala., and Mary Phelps of Navarre; 47 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at Living Faith Tabernacle with the Rev. James Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at Lewis Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
There will also be a visitation on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbus, Miss.
