Mrs. Ethel Beam Spangler, 83, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Ethel was born Feb. 23, 1922, in Cleveland County, NC to William Ira and Pearl Bookout Beam.

She was a faithful member of Grover First Baptist Church, serving in many capacities through the years.

After graduating from Grover High School, she graduated in 1944 from the Shelby Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. For many years she worked as supervisor of the OB/GYN Floor at Cleveland Memorial until the town of Grover opened the Grover Medical Clinic, where she worked until her retirement in 1989.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Jerome Spangler; three brothers, Sam Beam, John Beam and Bill Beam; and four sisters, Julia Beam Sanders, Gertrude Beam Shaw, Sue Beam Love and Essie Beam Flowers.
