James Edward Winchester, age 69 of Estill Springs passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Tennova Healthcare in Tullahoma. James was born on March 7, 1947 to the late Ulysses “Floyd” Winchester and Winnie Maude Joyner. He was an electrical engineer at Arnold Air Force Base for 15 years and a scientist at the University of Tennessee Space Institute for 3 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, painting, making wine, and inventing things. James is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth Taylor. Mr. Winchester leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 47 years, Brenda Winchester of Estill Springs; daughter, Melissa Dickson of Winchester; sons, Brian Winchester of Lexington, Kentucky, Adam Winchester of Eugene, Oregon, and Paul Winchester of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; great grand daughter, Khayden Amery Stachel; and brothers, Harvey Winchester of Brownsville, Tennessee, and David Winchester of Shelbyville, Kentucky. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11:30 am EST at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave, Chattanooga, TN with military honors being bestowed.
