Donnie and I went through PI together. We never had a chance to speak but I will always remember him. He was a real go-getter. Arthur Romeo

I served with Donnie, he was one of the good Marines that made the ultimate sacrifice. A memorial initiated by a friend and fellow Marine.

Donnie was my brother. I was 15 when he was killed. If anyone out there served with my brother please contact me. I loved him as a brother and my best friend. Danny Brown, 235 Virginia St, Robbins NC 27325.

Donnie was my father's brother and lost his life just 3 months before I was born. One of his last letters home is a keepsake of mine because he lamented to his mother how he couldn't wait to see the "baby" when he finally got home. Our entire family's lives changed when Uncle Donnie lost his life, and the "baby" became his namesake. Although I am a female, I proudly bear the name Donna, in honor of my Uncle. I never knew him as a man and an Uncle, and I would be honored for anyone that would to please forward any stories they could share about him. GOD Bless all those who served and all those who lost their lives. It was fortunate that my father came home from Vietnam, his brother was not as lucky. Donna Brown Smith, 247 Tanglewood Drive, Robbins, NC 27325.

Fellow squad team member: Donnie and I changed squads the day he was killed. I told him that I should take the ambush that night, and that we would change the following day. But he decided to take the ambush that night, and that I should take his the following night. Well, that night he tripped a grenade that was meant for me. I think of you always Donnie. Semper FI Brother! Noel Garcia, PO Box 77, Falfurrias, Texas 78355.

Friend of brother and family. Just want to add my name with deep respect and love. Carolyn Wind, Southern Pines, NC, 28387, [email protected].
