Jack Burris Bingham was the son of Harvey Crawford Bingham and Lillie Anne Love. He married Vera Texie Glenn on 27 April 1913 at Silverstone, Watauga, North Carolina. They had three children - Scott, Teresa and Frank.

His obit. in the Bluefield, WV Daily Telegraph, states:

Grundy Mine Foreman Dies in Slate Fall

Grundy, Va. Nov. 14 (Special) - Jack Burris Bingham, 58, local resident was instantly killed this morning in a slate fall in the DJB Colliery, Feds Creek, KY, where he had been employed a mine foreman for many years.

Bingham was struck by a piece of slate weighin several tons, suffering crushing injuries to the head and chest. The accident occurred at about 10:00.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Vera Glenn Bingham, two sons, Scott of Grundy and Frank of Elkhorn; a daughter, Mrs. Teresa McNeill of Marlinton; two brothers, Frank and Osler Bingham of Meadow View, VA and five sisters, Mrs. Roy Smith, Buffalo, NY, Mrs. Ed Glenn, Mtn. City, TN, Mrs. Frank Shouns, Shouns, TN, Mrs. Lewis Shaffer, Athens, GA and Miss Phyllis Bingham, Boone, NC.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. from the Grundy Baptist Church. The pastor, Rev. Macon Green, will be assisted by Rev. J. R. Whitt of Harman, VA. Interment will be in Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery at Richlands, VA, where Masonic rites will be accorded at the graveside. The body will be removed from Virginia Funeral Home here to the residence tomorrow.
