Cheryl was born April 12, 1960 in Lafayette to the late Charles and Ruth (McCreary) Alkire.
Cheryl received her Bachelor degree from Purdue University and since August of 2011 has worked as the Corporate Support Coordinator at Cook Biotech. She graduated from Martinsville High School in Virginia in 1978.
Cheryl was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, sewing, yoga, outdoor activities, and spending time with her children. She participated in the local Read to Succeed program, was active in the Community Involvement team at work, and enjoyed teaching Sunday school and preschool.
Cheryl is survived by three children, Adam Alspaugh and Anna Alspaugh both of Lafayette and Ryan Alspaugh (husband, Bryan Coakes) of Chicago; two sisters, Lisa Alkire of Clearwater, FL and Joann Abbott (husband Denny) of Lafayette and a sister-in-law, Mary Alkire of Aurora, OH. She is also survived by four nieces and their families, along with many other loved extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her brother Jerry Alkire and former husband Mike Alspaugh.
Friends will be received from 12 noon until the time of the service at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Central Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Comstock officiating. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.Memorials in Cheryl’s name can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
