SFC Herman Curtis Cahoon, Korean War Veteran, Vietnam War Veteran, Native of East Lake, North Carolina.

SFC Herman Curtis Cahoon was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, SFC Cahoon served our country until October 21st, 1971 in Vinh Long, South Vietnam. He was 41 years old and was not married. Herman died when his vehicle crashed. His body was recovered. SFC Cahoon is on panel 02W, line 045 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C.

Herman was my second cousin, and I remember, as a youth, attending his funeral in East Lake, NC. I was so upset, that I had to stay in the car during the service. Please contact me and let me know more about him. Thank you so much! Jack Cahoon Jr, 2nd Cousin.

He is the Son of Wilbur and Christine Cahoon.

He served with Bravo Company, 36th Engineer Battalion, 34th Engineer Group, 20th Engineer Brigade, USARV Engineer Command, USARV.

He was awarded The Bronze Star Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Korean Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
