Evelyn Matula was born on January 10, 1922 in Holland, TX to Anton and Mary Motloch.

She went to be with our Lord and her heavenly family on November 21, 2016 at the age of 94.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed.

Growing up in the small farming community of Granger, Texas, Evelyn met the love of her life, Emil E. Matula, when she was 14 years old. Their friendship grew during the years that Emil served overseas during WWII and they were married on February 5, 1946. Together they shared 67 years of wonderful love and memories.

Evelyn dedicated herself to her husband and children. She rejoined the work force when her youngest child started school in 1965. What was to be a part time job soon became full time and 20 years later she retired from the Frito Lay Company.

During retirement Evelyn traveled extensively with her husband spending time in Europe and attending 35th Infantry and Pearl Harbor Survivor reunions all over the country. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren who have many fond memories of their special time with Grandma.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Emil E. Matula, Sr.; children Jeanette Matula, Kenneth Joe Matula, and Kathy Jean Murley.

She is survived by daughters Jarolyn Popp and husband Bob, Margaret Schauffele and husband Roy; son Emil E. Matula Jr. and Yolanda Lopez; grandchildren Robert (Audra) Popp III, Emil E. Matula III, Jason (Emily) Murley, Michelle (Clay) Click, Joseph (Monica) Matula, Karen (Cody) Williams, Bryan Murley, Valerie (Allan) Harari and Megan Schauffele; great-grandchildren Noah, Nathan, Natalie and Nicholas Popp; Josie and Carrie Murley; Harper Click; Wylie Williams; and Ellie Harari.

Evelyn was a member of SPJST Lodge 133, KJT Lodge 102, Czech Heritage Society and St. Margaret Mary's Altar Society.

Visitation will begin Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Dellcrest Funeral Home in San Antonio.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 100 N. Brazos St., Granger, TX 76530 with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger, TX.
