Beth was born in Leadville, Colorado, to Ira Joseph and Lorine E. (Tryon) Binder. Her parents moved to Waterville and she graduated from Waterville High School in 1957. She attended Emporia State Teachers College for three and half years. She married Fred L. Barr on May 29, 1960. They moved to San Diego, California, where Fred was stationed with the US Navy. She drove a Story Wagon to share stories and books with pre-school children. After Fred’s retirement, the family moved to Waterville. Fred died June 14, 1981. She worked for Marshall County for 26 years and retired in 2005. She married Joe Krasny in 1985, enlarging her family with Joe’s children, Mary, Ed and Bill. Joe died in 2015.

Beth was a writer, poet, letter writer, actress and voracious reader, political activist, clown, certified lay speaker and a story teller. She was active in the United Methodist Women, American Legion Auxiliary, Shakespeare Club, Glory Ringers bell choir and the WUMC Chancel Choir. She was an encourager to many and enjoyed making people laugh, whether dressed as Pockets the Clown or not.
