Albert F. Burow, 86, of Mapleton, formerly of Anthon and Cushing, Iowa, died Jan. 7, 2007, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Services were at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Midway, rural Battle Creek, Iowa, with the Rev. Andrew Carlson officiating and burial in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Albert Frank Burow was born March 8, 1920, in Cushing, Iowa, the son of Frank and Ida (Sands) Burow. He grew up in the area and graduated from Cushing High School in 1937.

On Dec. 21, 1941, he was united in marriage to Hertha Sailer at the parsonage in South Sioux City. The couple started farming on his father's farm six and one half miles south of Cushing. They moved to Anthon, Iowa, in 1984, and remained involved in his farming operation.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he was on the Dart Ball team and held various offices in the church. He also was a member of the Gideon's.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Hertha; a daughter and her husband, Betty and Bill Ashley of Mapleton; a son and his wife, the Rev. Gaylen and Linda Burow of Bonnor Springs, Kansas; five grandchildren, Steve Ashley, Shauna and her husband, Tim Hugen, Eliza Christian, Emilee Burow and Evan Burow; two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Bryan Hugen; a nephew and his wife, Chuck and Mary Jo Harderson and their family of Corning, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and her husband, Dora and Charles Harderson; and a nephew, Dennis Harderson.
