Mrs. Ada Costigan Rites at Coast

Funeral services were held Tuesday for Mrs. Ada D. Costigan, prominent western Canada pioneer who died in hospital last Friday at the age of 96.

A widow of John R. Costigan, K.C., of Calgary, Mrs. Costigan became a vice-president of the National Council of Woman when it was founded by Lady Aberdeen and was a charter member of the Macleod Chapter, I.O.D.E., and a life member of the Canadian Red Cross.

Born in Fredericton, N.B., in 1858 she moved to Calgary at the age of 26 where she married John Costigan, son of Senator John Costigan.

Shortly after her marriage in 1889, Mrs. Costigan moved to Cranbrook, B.C. with her husband who was solicitor for the Canadian Pacific Railway during the construction of the Crow's Nest Pass line.

She later went to Emerald Lake chalet in the Rockies where she served as manager for eight years.

Mt. Costigan in Banff National Park was named after Mrs. Costigan's husband.
